Instonians Name Squad for Vienna

Instonians have named their European Squad for Vienna.

Neil Cooke (capt)  Nigel Skillen, Andrew Seay, Richard Johnson ( goal keepers )
Tim Taylor, Mark Wainwright, Gavin Currie, Paul Gleghorne, Stuart McWilliams, Stephen Reid, Julian Lewis, Anthony Lewis, Andrew Cousins, Chris Kirk, Chris Barnes, Richard Lee, Adam Stewart, Gregg Frizelle.
Coaches: Paul Hollway, David Scott, David Larmour.
Team Mgr: Barry Feeney, Physio: Gavin Noble.

In total a party of 50 will be travelling to Vienna as Instonians battle to maintain Irelands status in European Hockey. A big task lies ahead for a squad depleted by the absence of Ireland Captain Paddy Brown and international colleague Mark Irwin.  The unavailability of Clarke Kennedy is also a blow as his experience and enthusiasm would have been invaluable in Europe.

However despite some inexperience in the squad there are a lot of players with valuable European experience some playing in Europe for the sixth/seventh time and this will hold them in good stead.

Instonians despite having had a poor domestic season will be giving it all in Vienna and with a good vocal support behind them could perhaps spring a surprise or two.

Tom Reid.
