Official Opening of the Pitch The date of the official opening of the pitch will take place on Saturday 16th December 2006. All 3 clubs who will call the pitch home will be involved. More details will follow as they are known.
Pitch Update - 8th November 2006 As part of the handover of the pitch from the building contractors, we have a consultant in place to overview the work to make sure that everything is safe and ready for play. To this end the consultant has found several minor things that will need to be attended to before this handover can happen, so it is not definite yet that the pitch will be ready for play on the 18th November but keep checking the site! The following weekend there are 3 international matches being played between Ireland and Scotland as part of the official opening of the pitch. The games are to be played on the Friday and Saturday evenings with a game also scheduled for the Sunday lunchtime. This will obviously affect the 4th XI game that was scheduled to play on the pitch on Friday evening. International Match Schedule
Next up will be the 3rd XI who will provide the pre-match entertainment for the International match on the Saturday night. The first game for the 1st XI will be on the 2nd December 2006 while the 2nd XI will have to wait until the 9th December before they get a chance to play on the pitch. If the 4th XI do not get to play on the weekend of the 25th November they will have to wait until the 9th December as well.

Pitch Advertising Banners As some of you may know already, and if not I would encourage you to have a look below, our pitch is almost ready for play! As part of the official opening of the pitch there will be 3 international matches played at Shawsbridge on the 24/25/26 November. This is the first time for some years that International Hockey has been played in Belfast and it is hoped that not only will the television cameras be present but also that the matches will attract a large number of spectators on each of the three days. Going forward we are seeking support through the placing of advertising banners around the pitch not only for the up and coming international matches but for the remainder of the playing season. We believe that this will be an attractive venue and that Instonians as a Premier League Club will continue to get good Press and Television coverage which will also bring benefit to our advertisers. If you think that you would be able to support this request or for more details, please download the form here. We trust that it will bring benefit to you business and to our club as we strive to attract more high ranking games to our new playing facilities. Tom Reid Chairman, Instonians Men's Hockey Club.
Fixtures - 4th November 2006 Please Note change of venue again for where the 1st XI match is to be played. It was the Anderson Cup games that were switched about and not the home league game.
RBAI - Irish School Championship David Wilson has expressed his thanks to all of those people who turned up over the 3 days of the Irish Schools Tournament this year. Your support was greatly appreciated by all. He would also like to thank all of those who sent texts & messages of support, particularly on the last day when they were preparing for the Final. He said it was great to hear from so many former school players who contacted him from as far afield as Scotland & England where they are studying.
Irish Schools Tournament 2006 Inst were defeated by a golden goal penalty corner by Banbridge Academy in the Irish Schools Tournament final at Campbell College yesterday. Inst lead 2-0 then 3-1 but Banbridge forced the game into extra time and won it with a golden goal from Matt Smyth. Instonians would like to congratulate the school (boys and staff alike) for getting to the final and commiserate with them in losing by the narrowest of margins
