Under 11 seahorses win their league! |
|
The Under 11 Seahorses notched up another victory on Wednesday 8th August, overcoming Lurgan "B"s by 18 runs.
After losing both openers early on, Adam Wylie and Joseph Lyons batted patiently before Joseph was caught for a good 13. The pair had accumulated a partnership of 32. Adam retired shortly after for a battling and technically correct 9. TJ and Jonny Mitchell played sensibly and gave Ben and James Rose an opportunity to finish the final over. We finished on 67 for 3, the score boosted by 24 wides from Lurgan. Not one of our better batting efforts and it was "game on" as Lurgan probably fancied their chances.
Alex Armstrong and Ben Crothers opened the attack, however uncharacteristically we were unable to get an early breakthrough. Lurgan looked to be cruising at 32 from 10 overs however our bowlers stuck well to the task and we didn't concede a boundary all day. Joseph Lyons bowled a good 2 overs, as did young James Rose and Jack Dickson. However, the introduction of the P5 spin twins Michael Glasgow and Adam Wylie put the brakes on the run scoring to close the game out with Lurgan finishing on 49. Thanks to Lurgan for the game and congrats to Adam Wylie, Man of the Match for his solid batting and super spell of controlled leg-spin, 1 for 6 from his 4 overs. Adam now heads off to the Under 19 World Cup in Oz to watch big brother Ben representing Ireland. (Michael bowled his 3 overs, conceding only 2 runs.)
