1st XV lose in dying minutes 3-6 at Ballina in All Ire Jnr Cup

Instonians pipped in last 4 four minutes in All Ireland Junior Cup Quarter Final away to Ballina.

Ballina 6 - Instonians 3

Instonians travelled down to Ballina for the Quarter Final game.

It was played in very heavy wet conditions which meant that defences were on top throughout.

It was a very tight game. Both sides were locked at 3-3 all at the interval.

Although Instonians were ahead on the set piece they just could not turn it into points. They just missed the only try scoring opportunity of the game when the ball was knocked on inches from the Ballina line on the stroke of half-time.

In the final minutes it was Ballina who struck. Instonians were adjudged to be off-side in front of their posts just 4 minutes from time. The successful kick eased Ballina 6-3 ahead.

Instonians threw everything at the home side in the final minutes but they held out to claim a hard fought victory.

Congratulations to them and best wishes in the semi-final.
