Under 13 A’s progress in Banoge Cup

The 13’s secured a safe passage with a comprehensive win over Ballymena at Shaw’s Bridge on Monday 4th June.

Ballymena surprisingly chose to bowl first and no doubt regretted this decision as they watched Rory Ellerby pummel the ball to all areas. Lorcan Donnelly provided the support role in an effective left hand-right hand combination.

Rory’s innings contained 7 x 4’s and 3 x 6’s. When he retired, the score was 88 after only 7 overs. Tom Crothers picked up where Rory left off. Despite not having the same power, his attacking stroke play again complemented Lorcan’s anchor role. Lorcan retired with a well constructed knock, followed shortly by Tom.

Lorcan’s innings contained 6 x 4’s while Tom hit 10 x 4’s.

This allowed Conor Anderson and Luke Beattie to continue the momentum until Luke became the only Ballymena victim.

Having posted a strong total the decision was made that those who had batted wouldn’t bowl. The opening pair of Tom McGale and George Palmer bowled nicely with Tom claiming the breakthrough. After that, Ballymena struggled to build partnerships. Michael Hollway bowled a tidy spell of off spin while fellow P7 Ben McCausland bowled with pace and accuracy. Bryn Ward and Rory O’Connor were the other wicket takers.

Overall, a strong team performance although there are areas to work on.

Thanks to Ballymena for the game and best of luck for the rest of the season.

We look forward to the next round against CSNI.
