Under 11B’s lose to Muckamore A’s

The 11B’s learned some valuable lessons in a 9 wicket defeat by Muckamore.

After the early loss of James Nelson, Charlie O’Connor and Ronan Hogg kept the scoreboard ticking before Charlie was run out by a direct hit. Adam Boyd proved a solid partner for Ronan’s free flowing shots before being caught with the score on 41 in the 8th over. The run rate increased as Ronan and Luke Crothers formed an excellent partnership with Ronan first to retire with an excellent 33 ( 6 x 4’s). The partnership was worth over 60 runs Luke continued to bat confidently as a cameo from Ollie O’Hara increased the run rate. After 15 overs, at 112 for 3, a score of 150+ looked on the cards. Following Ollie’s departure and Luke’s retirement (4 x 4’s), Frank Hollway, Ben Walsh and Aaron Russell made important contributions as the innings reached 149-4.

In reply, the bottom four batsmen bowled first. This allowed Muckamore to start well but we stuck to our guns. Muckamore punished anything loose and were assisted by some fielding that needs worked on and 37 extras. Credit though, must go to the Muckamore batsmen who didn’t panic in the run chase. Muckamore passed the total in the 19th over.

The boys learned a great lesson tonight. Despite posting a decent total, it’s still key to focus on the basics. Boundary fielding and off-stump bowling are on the agenda!

Well done to Muckamore.
