4ths lose by 4 wickets at Bangor

Having been inserted, the 4s quickly found themselves floundering on 10 for 3. The evergreen Graham Higgin and Ben Crothers set about repairing the damage in contrasting styles. Following Ben’s departure for a hard-hitting 35 (4 x 4, 2 x 6), Amy Hunter produced her best knock in adult cricket with a quality display of clean striking in scoring 46 n.o (6 x 4, 1 x 6). Meanwhile, Graham had proven to be the backbone of the innings before his departure. The innings closed on 159 for 9 from 25 overs. A competitive total.

The opening pairing of Nathan Toland and Ben Crothers pegged back the Bangor reply with some tight bowling. However our spin options struggled with their lines against leg-side dominant batsmen. Tom Crothers produced the spell of the day however was unfortunate to go wicketless as he beat the bat many times. Amy proved that she is no slouch with the ball either as she bowled with confidence.

Bangor passed the line in 23 overs.

Good effort from our young talent who gave 100%. Our spinners will learn from the experience and come back stronger.

Thanks to Bangor for the game and for their hospitality.
