4ths beat Lurgan 2nds by 82 runs

The 4s recorded a comprehensive win over Lurgan at a fresh Cranmore on Saturday 4th May.

The skipper’s decision to bat wasn’t looking too clever after two early soft dismissals. Fortunately Thomas Johnston was in good nick and after a cautious start, he began to find gaps at will. He dominated the scoring in a partnership with Adam Ly. He finally went in the 19th over having struck 6 x 4s and 4 x 6s in an excellent knock. Ben Crothers made a good contribution, narrowly missing the Malone Road traffic with one blow. The skipper contributed a few quick-fire boundaries in his stay at the crease.

The inning closed on 181-8

In reply, Tom Campbell and Matthew Peak started well, each taking an early wicket. After 5 overs, Lurgan were floundering at 11 for 3. Bizarrely the Lurgan captain made absolutely no attempt to win the game as his partners came and went. He was happy to bat for 23 overs for 50 not out, denying a couple of young players an opportunity to have a bat.

A good display by the bowling unit, although too many soft dismissals in our batting display.

Thanks to Lurgan for the game and to Paul and Rachael Campbell who looked after the teas.
