Another Great Win!

2 June 2019

The 1st XI continued their improvement with a great victory in the Senior Challenge Cup first round match v North Down on Saturday.

North Down batted first and got off to a bad start from which they never recovered. Losing four early wickets for only 18 runs was not the start they wanted, but it put Instonians in command, which they never relinquished.

A final total of 85 all out off 38.1 overs was not a difficult target, and so it proved with Instonians winning by 8 wickets with 32.2 overs to spare.

Andrew White led from the front with 4-15 off nine overs. whilst James Magee supported him taking 3-23 in 9.1 overs.

Nikolai Smith and Olliver Metcalfe then continued where they left off last week, putting on 55 before Nikolai was dismissed for 20. Oliver fell for 35, but Murray Commins and Andrew White gathered the remaining runs to complete an 8 wicket win.

For the second week running the 3rd XI emulated the firsts with an eight wicket victory over Bangor III in the Lindsay Minor Cup largely due to an innings of 82 from Jack Kelly. They will travel to play Armagh III in the second round on 29 June.
