U13A Beat Armagh

The boys travelled to The Mall on Friday 7th June and came away with a comprehensive 151 run victory.

Batting first, there was an early breakthrough for the home side as Will Park was bowled in the third over. George Palmer started conservatively while Tom Crothers went on the attack with some fierce hitting, peppering the passing traffic. George upped the ante in response and the pair pressurised the bowling attack. Tom retired after his five over blitz to bring Ben McCausland to the crease. Ben soon realized that he couldn’t start hitting boundaries from ball one and sensibly started to build his innings. George was bowled two shy of his fifty, bringing Michael Hollway to partner Ben. Another quality partnership with both showing their undoubted talented. Ben was the dominant partner with Michael content to find gaps to rotate the strike,

The innings closed on 197, with only two wickets down.

The Armagh response didn’t get going. George Craigan made the initial breakthrough and they struggled to build partnerships against a disciplined attack. Bowling duties were shared and it was pleasing to see under 11 player James Nelson taking a wicket on debut.

Thanks to Armagh for the game and it is encouraging that they have entered the Premier Division of the league.
