U11A vs U11B

A sun-kissed Shaw’s Bridge top pitch played host to a huge Cup quarter-final on Sunday 9th June. Despite the recent poor weather, the boys and girls enjoyed a competitive match with the As emerging winners by 60 runs.

This was the event of the week for many and had been the talk of the playground, so the large group of supporting parents watched with anticipation.

The all-girl opening bowling partnership of Lucy Ly and Anna Ellerby ensured there was no flying start for the As. Harry Luke was intent on making his first fifty on his birthday before his hopes were cruelly dashed as Lucy clean bowled him. Matthew McAreavey was looking in control as he and Lewis Ingram ran well and hit gaps. The Bs bowling attack stuck well to their task as Matthew struck the ball cleanly. Adam Boyd smashed the ball as usual. He is definitely one of the most attacking players at this level. Matthew notched up his well-deserved maiden fifty in the last over.

Hotdogs and drinks for players and parents at the interval went down a treat.

The Bs didn’t quite catch on to the fact that the As were plying them with multiple hotdogs so that they couldn’t run too quickly while batting.

In reply, the Bs put up some great resistance although the bowling attack contained the scoring well. Zach Surphlis batted effectively. Aaron Rusell, Jack Robinson and Adam price also looked good. The reply finished on 74, which was a super effort. The most pleasing thing was that everyone batted and bowled and enjoyed the experience.

11A debuts were given to David Agnew and Charles Hollway who both performed brilliantly.
