13As make it 3 from 3 in the league

The boys played at a cold Cranmore on Thursday 13th June, recording a 59 run win over a useful Lisburn side.

The two Georges, Palmer and Craigan opened up cautiously against the Lisburn attack. With a plush outfield, it became apparent that boundaries would be few and far between. The pair accelerated in overs 6-10 to bring the score to 54 after 10 overs. George Palmer was first to go in the 11th to a well-taken catch. George Craigan was beginning to strike the ball well and Tom Crothers was content to rotate the strike until George retired for an excellent 51 in the 14th over with the score 89. Tom and Ben McCausland showed their ability as a pairing with a range of shots, hitting gaps at will. Tom struck one particularly good 6 over cover, Jos Buttler style before falling in the last over. Strong acceleration in the second half of the innings moved the score onto 154.

In reply, the Lisburn openers struggled against tight opening spells from Max Willmott and Ben McCausland. They found it hard to beat the tight field. Daniel Henry is a partnership breaker and he proved his worth in his first over. He paired with Tom Crothers who bowled with pace and aggression and was perhaps unfortunate to claim a single scalp. With the score on 60 for 3 after 14 overs, the game was beyond Lisburn. To their credit they refused to give in and managed to get to 92 after 18. It was left to under 11 players James Nelson and Luke Crothers to bowl the last two overs. James bagged a wicket in a good over, while Luke bowled the tightest over of the day to record a wicket maiden.

Both these boys performed brilliantly against their much older opposition and gained valuable experience, which should build their confidence.

Thanks to Lisburn for the game which was played in good spirit with many school friends on opposing sides.

Next up is CIYMS in the Banoge Cup quarter final.
