U13s reach cup semi final

The 13s played CIYMS at Belmont on Friday 21st June, recording a comprehensive 89 run win.

Having been inserted, George Craigan and Amy started well, scoring at a run-a-ball before George was bowled. After looking in great touch, Amy fell to a well taken catch a few runs later with the score on 38. George Palmer joined Tom Crothers. Tom was batting confidently but CI continued to toil and accounted for George and Ben McCausland. After 10 overs the score was 72 for 4 and their tails were up.

Tom chose to take the attack to the bowlers and over the next ten overs gave a superb display of clean hitting. He was supported first by Luke Beattie, then Ben Oberholzer. After 15 overs, with 110 on the board, 150 plus was realistic. Tom had other ideas and decided to deal only in boundaries. Having struck 36 off the final over, Tom finished on 109* from 44 balls. (10 x 6, 8 x 4).

The innings closed on an imposing 195-6!

In reply, Max Willmott made an early breakthrough. Callum Soper and Angus Carson put on a good partnership up to the halfway point and were 58 for 1 from 10. Callum was showing intent while Angus defended his wicket against his school mates. Good tactical captaincy protecting the boundaries restricted the scoring. The bowling unit looked strong with Daniel Henry, Amy and Tom particularly impressive. The reply finished on 108 for 4.

Thanks to CI for the game.
