4s complete league campaign with a win

The 4th XI brought their season to a close with a four-wicket win over Bangor at a sun-kissed Shaw’s Bridge on Sunday 25th August.

Batting first, Bangor got off to a reasonable start. Making his debut was 15-year-old Salman Khan, our latest recruit from Afghanistan. He showed his ability with the ball and as a superb fielder but it was Robert Craigan who claimed the plaudits with a 6-for in a devastating spell. With wickets falling at regular intervals in the second half of the innings, Bangor reached 98 for 8.

In reply, stand-in skipper Gareth Robinson rolled back the years with a fluent display as his partners came and went. Important contributions from Richard Black, Xander McIlwaine and Tom Crothers meant that the target was reached with some breathing space in the 16th over.

Overall an enjoyable season with some exciting new talent complemented by experience.

Thanks to Bangor for the game.

Bangor 98-8 (M Quinn 36, C Cox 23, R Craigan 6-9)

Instonians 101-6 (G Robinson 56, B Escott 2-14)
