Under 11 All Ireland Runners-Up

The 11s fell short by 19 runs in a pulsating final against Pembroke on Sunday 8th September. The game was finely balanced throughout and a great advert for youth cricket.

Pembroke won the toss and chose to bat. Despite losing their two best batsmen early on, they dug in and progressed from 40 for 3 at the 10 over mark to finish on 103 for 6. Pick of the bowlers were James Nelson, Ben Walsh and Luke Crothers. James bowled four overs, taking 3 for twenty while Luke bowled his four for fifteen runs and Ben went for twenty one from his four.

In reply, James Nelson was solid. Adam Boyd had the ability to take the game away from Pembroke however he holed out next ball after smashing a big six over long on. Support came in the shape of Luke Crothers, although when James was bowled on the last ball of Ethan Clarke’s spell, Pembroke were in the driving seat. Despite a good effort from Luke, scoreboard pressure told and the boys fell short by 19 runs.

Pembroke were deserved winners and our young side will learn a lot from the experience. Once again, their hospitality was excellent.

This has been a fantastic season for the team. Support has been second to none.

More than half the team remains in this age group next year, so exciting times ahead!
