Sunday 22nd September saw the 15s crowned All Ireland champions in a rain-effected match.

After the first prolonged shower and an early lunch, the umpires reduced the match to the minimum 16 overs per side. Openers Adam Ly and Rory Ellerby laid the foundations with an excellent partnership of 78. The Bready attack fought hard in the latter overs with only Jacob Boyd getting himself set, to finish with a flurry.

In the Bready reply, early wickets for James Rose and Rory had Bready reeling at 1 for 3. The excellent opening pairing further reduced the reply to 18 for 5. From there, Bready never gave up but the required run rate mounted steadily due to a strong performance from the bowling unit.

Thanks to Bready for the match and their positive outlook towards achieving a result.

Also thanks to umpires Dessie Milne and Jonny Kennedy who set the tone and managed the game superbly.

Another successful year of youth cricket at Shaw’s Bridge draws to a conclusion.

To proudly say that we are All Ireland Champions at under 13s and 15s and runners up at 11s speaks volumes for the dedication of the coaching team, support of the parents and hard work of the kids.
