| Under 13As in dramatic league victory |
|
30th June 2011 Instonians Under 13s got back to winning ways with a last ball victory over North Down at Comber on 29th June. Having won the toss an electing to field, with the exception of Ben Mellor ( 4 overs 1 for 2) our opening attack never really put North Down under pressure allowing a good partnership between Craig Irvine ( 31no) and Lex Walker (19) to put North Down in command. A fine closing spell by Paul Kerr ( 2 for 22) enabled North Down to be pegged back to 87 for 5 in their 20 overs. The Instonians batting got off to a slow start and the loss of Stuart McCaughan for 9 and Ben Mellor for 1 was a setback. However, Ben Cochrane ( 37) Andrew Knape (10) and Paul Kerr ( 14no) steered the side to a great victory to keep up the 100% record in the league. A great team response to the last ball defeat in the Cup on Monday North Down 87 for 5 in 20 overs ( C Irvine 31 no, L Walker 19, B Mellor 1-2, P Kerr 2-22) Instonians 88 for 5 in 20 overs ( B Cochrane 37, B Davison 2-20) Instonians win by 5 wickets |
