Fantastic Bank Holiday Monday weather prevailed as our boys completed a 41 run win over Muckamore at Moylena.

Muckamore captain Luka Bates decided to bowl and it certainly appeared to be the correct decision early on. Luka bowled with pace and accuracy although his opening partner struggled for accuracy. Boundaries kept the scoreboard ticking over as Adam Boyd struck some powerful shots while Frank Hollway dug in.

After seven overs, the score was 56 for 6 and Muckamore had their tails up but their limited bowling options allowed us back into the game as Charlie O’Connor batted sensibly, resisting the urge to attack. This was a crucial innings and we managed to muster 115. A good recovery due to our batting depth.

The Muckamore reply started well with two fours from the first two deliveries however Lewis Ingram found his line and length to make the breakthrough in his second over. After five overs, Muckamore were 25 for 1 and it was “game on”. The introduction of James Nelson and Luke Crothers stemmed the runs as they claimed a wicket each to reduce Muckamore to 37 for 3 after 10. Ben Walsh and Harry Luke squeezed further as Muckamore struggled to find gaps and with 5 overs remaining, Muckamore required a further 71 runs. With Luke and Ben finishing their spells, Hugo Robinson and David Agnew closed out the game. The accurate middle overs from James, Luke and Ben had choked the reply and turned the game in our favour. The innings closed on 74 for 6.

A spirited Muckamore effort. Thanks to them for their fantastic hospitality and to umpire Andy Kennedy for officiating.
