U11a win Quoile Cup

Friday 30th July saw our 11s retain the Quoile Cup beating Holywood by 38 runs at Queensway.

Holywood called correctly and elected to have a bowl on a nice evening in front of a great crowd.

The talented pairing of Jack Robinson and David Agnew started confidently and began finding gaps from the off. The pair rotated the strike well with David the more fluent of the pairing. However his eagerness to attack led to Holywood’s first wicket as he departed for an excellent 23. Luke Crothers began confidently and with the scoreboard ticking along at 6 per over, the foundation was being set for a challenging total. Jack continued to play low risk cricket, allowing Luke to play his natural attacking game, finding the boundary at regular intervals in a hard hitting knock. To Holywood’s relief, the partnership was broken when one nipped back off the seam to account for Luke. Jack departed soon after for a hard-working 33 which was the cornerstone of the innings. Momentum slowed in the last 5 overs however a decent total was posted.

In reply, the opening pair of Adam Price and Luke Crothers applied the pressure from ball one. The ground fielding was superb. With David Agnew and Cameron Wilson entering the attack, Holywood were always chasing the run-rate. Under pressure, wickets fell at regular intervals however Lucas McKeown remained resolute, batting through the innings.

Thanks to David Skelton and Derriaghy for hosting, umpire Stevie Hanna and to our opposition.

Great support as always!
