U14s enjoy a blitz at Ballynahinch RFC

The U14s team on Friday night featured a full squad of kids from non-rugby playing schools.

It’s fantastic to see the players enjoying themselves and thriving in a rugby environment. Massive shout out to Michael Fairbanks for all the hard work he has put into the Instonians Outreach Programme.

The team put in a great shift, winning 1, drawing 1 and losing to a strong Ballynahinch & Armagh side

U18s win 43-5 home to Ophir

Last Saturday saw the U18XV first match of the season playing at home against Ophir.

Saturday’s team was captained by our midfield general Ben Gray whose masterclass dictated the game admirably.

Stones started off slowly as usual and conceding a try within the first 8 mins which went unconverted. The lads then decided to up the pace by a couple of gears and scored 4 converted tries in the 1st half.

Making some substitutions at half time & using rolling subs in the second half Stones went on to score another 3 tries I. The 2nd half but could have had more.

Try scorers: Oliver Clarke, Andrew Collins, James Henry, Reuben Smith, Ben Gray & Jake McAvoy with a brace. 4 successful conversions landed by Ben Gray made the final score 43-5 to the home side! It was a decent performance from the lads starting our season off as we finished last season in the Cup Final.

2nd XV win 24-14 at home to Queens 3rd XV

That is 2 wins from 2 games.

Oli Clarke, Jonny Drennan and Paddy White all scored on their debut.

Plenty more to come from this group of players.

Instonians Communication App

Instonians 1 App

Good communication is the key to success for any relationship, community or organisation.

As Instonians Rugby, Hockey and Cricket Clubs go from strength to strength and as our membership continues to grow, effective communication becomes more and more important.

With an aging website, countless WhatsApps, Facebook pages, email and text message groups at minis, youth, seniors, administrative and non-playing / supporter levels, the Instonians Executive Committee recently took a unanimous decision to modernise our approach to communication for the benefit of all of our members, locally, nationally and internationally.

The concept of Instonians 1 App was born. A single point of truth for anyone interested in Instonians sports.

A project team with representation from each of our sports was formed in September 2021 and spent a number of months mapping out the requirement and specification of what an Instonians App should include.

It was agreed that it should be able to manage all team, player, supporter and administrator requirements. From payment of membership to changes of training times or team selection to promoting club events or real time live reporting of matches with pictures and video. All members will be in complete control and be able to select the type of information they receive whether they’re in Belfast or Brisbane.

Work subsequently began on development of Instonians 1 App in February this year and will be available for download from the App Store in Apple or Android format before the end of September 2022.

Please keep an eye on all the usual contact channels (which will eventually disappear) for final details on when you can download Instonians 1 App.

Be part of the Instonians community. Be part of Instonians success. Be on Instonians One App.

Project Seahorse

Project Seahorse has been well received with generous donations coming in regularly. If you haven’t yet had a chance to view the rugby club video and consider making a donation, please have a look https://projectseahorse.co.uk/
