Recent results / events . Mini Rugby Christmas party was on Sunday 11th Dec - a great success. Well done to those involved. Photos on the seahorse’s social media Christmas break now until sat 7th Jan , U12s Unfortunately, the U12s chance to play at halftime during the Ulster v La Rochelle match was lost due to the move to the Aviva. Hopefully another opportunity will come along. Under 12 training to resume on Tues10th Jan . U12s – Girls Christmas break now until Sat 7th Jan . U14s U14s had great win 38-0 at Bangor Great progress being shown U14 Training to resume on the Mon 9th January . U16s Still joint venture with Civil Service & Ards Lost 14-38 at Bangor U16 Training to resume on wed 4th Jan . U18s 18’s training with Academy squad on Tuesday @ 7pm . U21s Continue to train with 3rd & 4th XV on a Tuesday evening All new players welcome . 3rd XV & 4th XV – Junior Club Junior club training Tuesday night 7pm to 8.15pm. Next match, Sat 7th Jan v Dungannon 3s at Shaws Bridge . 2nd XV Lost 10-24 away to Omagh 3rd XV We were not at our best Fixtures resume in January to get back at it. . 1st XV Match report for Instonians 1st XV win 42-15 at Omagh 1st XV is on the club website It was about the only game in Ulster to beat the weather that Saturday. Since then, the 1st XV Ulster Premier League division 2 match against Belfast Harlequins was postponed as Belfast Harlequins have to reschedule their AIL match v Malahide. Apologies to all those looking forward to a full lunch and good match. New date to be planned for February. . President Christmas Message 2022 This has been a great year for the Instonians Club whether you are connected to Rugby, Hockey or Cricket; at mini/youth level or any of the various adult sections. I would like to extend my thanks to the Executive Team who steer the Club particularly our Chairperson Neil Gillies and our Secretary Erica Luke. I also want to thank the Chairs of the various Sports. Peter Bradley for Rugby, Richard Palmer and Jenny Magee for Hockey and Norman Shannon for Cricket for the work they put in to each of the Sections to make them so vibrant. I wish them and all our volunteers and players across the three sports a lovely holiday break. We will see everyone again in 2023 for what we hope will be an even better year for our three Sports Sections Owen Lambert President Instonians 2022/23 . “Instonians live” – an experiment in communication The “Instonians live” is an experiment by harry Mussen to try and streamline the live scores on Saturday afternoons. At the moment, Harry posts to four Instonian chats, the Ulster Rugby Scores chat and the Energia AIL Div 2 chat. Often, he resembles a whirling dervish! WhatsApp have just introduced the Communities function and he is trying to use it to make one post go to all our Instonian chats. It’s a work in progress and might well be superseded by the Instonians One App. . Shaws Bridge Monthly Lunches Restarted No 1 - Fri 9th Dec at 12pm to 2.30pm “Dear All The proposal to re-instate the monthly lunches at Shaws Bridge appears to have been enthusiastically received, to the extent that the first lunch has been arranged for.Friday 9th.December. I attended a meeting last night convened by Owen Lambert ,President of the Instonians Club, at which the following arrangements were discussed and I had the opportunity to talk over these with Allen earlier today. It is envisaged that the lunches will be organised by way of an informal partnership between all sections of the Instonians Club (ie Rugby, Hockey and Cricket) and BOIA . The primary aim is to bring together Instonians of retirement age, but all members of BOIA and the Club are welcome to attend. It is intended that the event will be from 12pm-2.30pm with lunch served at 1pm. The cost of the first lunch will be £16 per head, to be paid by attendees to the caterer on the day. The meal will consist of a main course ,followed by a dessert /cheese board and coffee. It is hoped that the lunches will be as informal as possible and for the first on 9th.December there will be some words of welcome from the President of the Club, Owen Lambert. If you and/or any of your friends in the Association would like to attend on Friday 9th,December please let me know as soon as possible by reply to this email, so that we can confirm numbers. When replying if you would let me have your mobile number I can add you to the Group Chat which is being set up to confirm and take bookings for future lunches next year.
