What happened last week at Instonians Rugby – Sat 16th Oct |
Results Mini Seahorses
Travelled to Academy as a mini section, had lots of fun and Academy were great hosts
1st XV won 27-26 at Clogher Valley 1st XV in the league
When the two unbeaten sides in a league meet, it was always going to be a close one. Clogher are a young dynamic team and scored 4 great trys.
Instonians were not at their best but used their size and experience to get 3 tries of their own. Outhalf Richard McCarthy’s boot proved the difference with 3 conversions and two penalties to win the game.
Both sides will be looking forward to the return fixture at Shawsbridge after Christmas. Clogher remain 2 points ahead of Instonians in the league but have played 1 extra match, game on!!
The League takes a break for a cup weekend.
Instonians host Lurgan in the first round of the Junior cup, another tough one. Let’s keep the good season going.
2nd XV – No game
3rd XV – lost 5-15 away to Larne 2nd XV
As with 3rd XV rugby, player availability can change from week to week. Last week the numbers at training were low due to availability.
The team that took the field on Saturday was also much changed due to injury and availability. All this led to a below power performance against a physical Larne 2nd XV.
Nevertheless, the team fought hard and will be disappointed not to win the match. Now looking to bounce back with good numbers at training and a strong team on Saturday when they travel to CIYMS 2nd XV
